there is no best martial art.if you have a great instructor, and you disiplin yourself to achieve beyond your goals it is great. butin a competition like that it takes one perfect hit to win or sometimes a lucky hit lol

well you are quite correct in the sense that we do have a lot of rules, but in all the clubs i have trained in, each instructor has emphasised that these rules wont apply on the streets, this is where we focus a bit less on traditional technique and adapt our selves to deal with what is really out there, is that any better? :)

I've studied Karate for 20 years years, was junior state champ age 15 and from there held that placing for the next 7 years. Wanna know the first thing I learned?? Never drop your guard and leave your head and body open to attacks. F**king pathetic kicking and punching as well. Technique and speed are far greater than anything else in Martial Arts

i did not understand what you said.. i mean, you say that tkd training involve some street real situations that help you while fighting on street?

dont get mad, i really want to know .. i said that cause i belive that learning a fighting style may be effective, and i dont see tkd or some karate things so effective... i belive, the more rules the style have, the less efective it will be on the streets

you really think any martial artist wiv half a brain will try and fight like that in the street? ive trained at 3 tkd clubs now and all off them deal wiv "street" situations very seriously lol

those fighting styles dont worth a S**t on the streets you cant fight that way.. i mean, im not a fighter, i dont even fight on the streets.. so i will get my ass kicked, same as those guys...

Whine....While both Kung-fu and Taekwondo are superior fighting styles, their not fighting to be friends. The Karate fighter was just a little better.

Dude, one of those guys should just join boxing. He just kept punching, there was no kicking whatsoever and he looked really weird. Although I think everyone has there own fighting style, at least make it fair for the other guy. The other guy made an attempt to fight professionally while the other guy didn't.

street fighting is real where sports is surreal. dont be too jealous of karate fighting method.

yea i know thats not the point alt of the older mma guys like i said porb done various martial arts to get were they are but now all the new kids trying to be the next big mma star are not they are going to MMA gyms because of the populairty of the sport gyms have opened up all over the counrty and they trian with in the rules of mma Rorion Gracie said it him self "the ufc champ is not the stongest fighter in the world just a tough guy what can work the rules

so many mma fighters started OFF as russian sambo, Fedor, Alek and AA (just a few) they all know how to fight base sambo (illegal mma moves) Fedor himself is known for only having gone to MMA for the money they offer

that TKD is way better than tha karate guy

........but you go to any MMA gym a gym with the sole purpose to train for MMA comps then they only train the moves that can use with in the rules. and most of the people now a days(in ufc at least) train in these kinds of gyms
