Admired not for its skill but its illustration of disciplined determination to score - a property that would become a Ronaldo trademark. Ignoring the jersey tugs and pushes from a Compostela challenger he sprints 40 metres up the sideline before tangling with two defenders in the goal square, and losing the ball. Just when you think its over, Ronaldo summons the energy to bound after the escaped ball, spin and fire it into goal, knocking himself over in the process.
