    I don't think these great creatures should be kept in the captivity of small pools, unless they were captured injured, ill and unable to release to the wild.

  • Yes, but...

    Although I agree with the post about not keeping such majestic creatures so confined, the few - and I mean do mean FEW - that are kept in captivity (compared to the number of Orcas living in the wild) have sensitized thousands if not millions of people to the beauty and intelligence of these great mammals. Because of the education these parks provide about our oceans and the life living within them, we have become a people of conscience and compassion, as well as conservation. After all, only a hundred years ago whaling was still legal and practiced by many countries that today denounce it! We've come a long way in a short amount of time.

    As for the vid, I thought it quite amusing when the trainer in green gave a subtle cue to her Orca and then walked away, just before the Orca began spraying the rest of the people with his tail. Very funny! :0)
