LCD or Plasma?

  • This aint true

The black levels on LCD monitors have improved alot. The new Sony series got really good colors and the blacks are very good. Samsung and other brands also got good black. Its true that the plasma got the best black, but its marginal. The only one that stands out is the Pioneer but they are very expensive. The LCD tv behind him ain't calibrated properly. All tv's got plenty of possibility's to change back light, colors ect. so you can customize the tv after your need. If you got a lot of cash go for the Pioneer otherwise i would recommend a LCD because of the marginal difference in picture quality and features like PC and video gaming. I got a Sony bravia myself and after calibration the colors are very good and the blacks are the best i have seen except of the Pioneers.

    • Try it side by side

Thanks for letting people know about how the LCD monitors have become better as technology advances. But I have 3 Plasmas, and 2 LCD TV. Put the same game or movie on each and you will see that Plasma always beats the LCD in the richness of the colors and the blacks. Not to mention the glass gives the Plasma a nice touch. The only problem is the glare. But I disagree with you. Plasma is better. Thanks anyways for the post.

    • Plasma

Thank you for your comments. I appreciate it. I have tried the plasma and the lcd for gaming. Yes the plasma will always look awesome, but it is not the ideal TV for this.

I made this video because the same thing almost happened to me, but I sat down and tested both TV's before buying and started looking for information on the internet which helped me make my purchase.

So I wanted to give back something so I made the video to hopefully help others. Thank you.

  • Remember!

The 2009 transition to digital does not affect cable/satellite users. This is just for OTA (over the air) users. Also the resolution is the number of lines (720p, 1080i, 1080p) Not a DPI (dots per inch) The info on Plasma's versus LCD is very accurate and a good guide for most people to go by. Also look into the processor hertz. 120hz will give you a smoother moving picture. Altogether this was a informative movie.

    • LCD is better

I like the LCD because I can use it also as a computer monitor, but what I don't like is that LCD does not show the colors as rich as a Plasma, and that it is very bright compared to the plasma.

They are both great, it is just that you have to find the right one that will meet your needs. Thanks for the comments
