a brand of beer in the uk implies that it originates from england, scotland, wales or northern ireland. the previous comment from ryankdunne was overly zealous but correct. one reason for a response like that is possible due to the way many irish successful or popular or famous articles are soaked up as being from the uk. when these things cease to be a success or popular or whatever, then they get tagged as irish. in all honesty, this gets on my T**s too.

This commercial is interesting... has no relevance to most beer ads... very well done... cool ad, but Guinness is Irish, my man.

errrr....with no natural resources to speak of (and therefore presumably feel the need to lay claim like in the "true" colonial days) why would Britain remain in Northen ireland?....esp when it has long since relinquished sovereignty in its former "profitable colonies like Africa...Oh!..ping!..that's right because the MAJORITY of the IRISH inhabitants there CHOOSE British rule! Well, technically, since Guinness is sold in the UK, it is ok to say "a brand of beer in the UK". Anyway, perhaps anyone who gets their panties in a twist about something as trivial as as this needs to just calm down a little.

Guinness is an Irish beer.
The Republic of Ireland is in no way shape or form in the U.K, hence the word 'Republic'.
Harp is a northern Irish beer.
The north is part of the U.K. Although the north only exists as part of the U.K because of the British governments pathetic need for control over someone. In my opinion they should grow up and officialy end the colonial era.

Its going one for 200 years but its slowing down a little and Its not so much the English in Nothern s Ireland a it is a religious war of sorts.

england, scotland, wales (and some "isle of"s) = great britain

northern ireland is in the united kingdom. if you looked at a passport it would say united kingdom of great britain and northern ireland.

and whoever thought the civil war in northern ireland has only been going on for 30 years you need to read a real history book, not wikipedia.
