Actor and breast cancer survivor Cynthia Nixon is teaming up with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and challenging the nation to raise $4.5 million through Passionately Pink for the Cure®. The simple national fundraising program inspires breast cancer advocacy and honors those affected by the disease.

Passionately Pink for the Cure invites companies, organizations, social groups or individuals to wear pink for a day and donate $5 or more to Komen for the Cure. The program was launched in May and runs through October 2008. Last year, more than 8,000 businesses, schools, places of worship and social organizations went Passionately Pink, raising nearly $4 million for breast cancer research and community health programs.

As a breast cancer survivor and the daughter of a two-time breast cancer survivor, Nixon is passionate about spreading awareness for a disease that has had a large impact on her family. She also works to motivate women to take charge of their own health by educating themselves about their personal risk for the disease.
