The "volvelle" has been with us for centuries only nowadays no-one ever calls the product a "volvelle", in fact it is hard to know what to call them - wheel charts, spinners, information discs, calculators. Either way, they are usually a collection of circular pieces of card joined together at the centre with a metal eyelet. This allows them to turn to reveal information through a window. This example was made in the UK by Whitney Woods.
