      You can see on those animals that both of them wanted to avoid conflict. See how the mongoose stays in one corner and the snake in the other. The snake tried to get away already in the begining and the mongoose too. The only reason they fought there were because they had to survive!

      All I know is that mongooses are wise enough to only fight snakes that are slower than they are, such as cobras, so they always win. I don't think they'd fare as good against rattlers.

I have no problem with eating animals, but I do have a problem with animals living a low quality of life in small cages, awaiting the end of their suffering, just as much as I abhor humans who feel it is acceptable to place animals in small spaces and expect them to fight till the death for our entertainment.       I stated "I do have a problem with animals living a low quality of life in small cages", which means I understand and abhor their treatment.

      However, eating meat, in small quantities, is an ancient custom- not cruelty. So, no, I don't have a problem with something so natural. I advocate allowing livestock to roam free in pastures, rather than spend their miserable existence in a tiny cage.

      The same goes for mongoose and snake fights- it isn't natural to throw them both into a tiny box and provoke 'natural combat'. Once humans got involved, it most certainly wasn't natural anymore.

      Did I explain myself better? It's tough to make a clear point when I'm obviously your stereotypical, ignorant, country-bumpkin. But those comments sure made you look smarter. O_o

Two of us are astronautic engineers; one chick is a vet, got 3 people who are nuclear reactor technicians, various other engineers. I know lots of doctors who grew up in the country too. I am back in school and will soon graduate with an honors degree in engineering from one of the top 10 schools in the US. My country bumpkin school also scored well above average on standardized tests. I mean the guy who got 1000 on his SAT got laughed at for being dumb, and that is 50th percentile.

      If you actually look at going to college rates and test scores. Most big cities are way dumber then small towns. So no I did not call you a country bumpkin.

      I was just pointing out if you eat meat, egg, or milk products from a store and you have a problem with this you are pretty much a hypocrite since those animals have it worse then these two, and by buying those products you support that.

      Sure there is some free range meat. You have to go to especially store in big cities to get it or mail order it. It will also cost you at least 3 times normal meat. So I guess you only buy that and don't eat any milk or eggs right?

    I'm not usually the conservative one but I really don’t think that this is cruelty as much as it is a crude demonstration. It’s like feeding a fish to a shark or watching how a snake eats a rat. Honestly, haven’t you ever wondered how a little mongoose is able to kill a cobra so efficiently? Its nature; a mongoose kills a snake.
    This is not cockfight so yawl can stop crying about animal cruelty. I work for an animal shelter and I see worse than this every day. Barns full of mal-nourished kittens getting eaten by mal-nourished dogs. Or even dogs nobody wants so we have to kill them.     snakes are not mongooses' normal prey. they will fight and kill them when necessary (which rarely happens in nature), but normally stay away from them. this isn't even a competition - in a confined box such as this, the mongoose will always kill the snake, as it is immune to the cobra's only defense - its neurotoxin venom.
