2 tricks
1) the line is attached at one end to the precise middle of the stick; this gives the imponderability effect, as the stick remains vertical even tho the line is at an angle
2) at the other end it runs a ring at the base of the finger, so it all comes down to an arm/wrist motion; the finger moves are just for dazzle ;)

That used to be an old 80s toy
I remember them in the 80's. It was a craze at the time. i think it was named the Trix stix. I think most people have forgot about it all these years.
It was a Red stick in the 1980's with black ends.
With what looked like fish wire and a Ring part.
