Actually
Many fruits naturally produce ethylene. It helps the fruit ripen (this explains why sometimes you're told to keep an unripened fruit in a bag to ripen faster- the ethylene becomes more concentrated). Ethylene is a highly flammable substance (it was used in old gas lamps before electricity). That is why the flame became bigger, the ethylene was igniting it. Good guess on the natural oils though. Before organic chemistry, I would have guessed the same.

Lots
Lots of different vegetable matter (and fruits) can be used as fuel but it is not feasible. It would cut into our food supply too much.

Our only energy savior is wind, solar, and water power. We can run the entire planet on these three things. But we don't.

Orange oil
OK....orange oil is flammable. I think you can do that with a lot of plants. There is a weed here in Oklahoma that makes little round..... um.... "berries"... I guess. They go up like they are filled with napalm. We have solved the oil crisis!
