One question...
I know nothing about huge turbines on small cars, so I have always wanted to ask... what's with the severe amount of priming they do? Flaring the turbine and all that... do they do that just for show? I mean, I know it's gotta spool up and everything, so maybe they are just trying to make sure it's still spooled when the race starts?

Anyone know the answer?

  That's what I was afraid of. I was hoping all the pomp and circumstance actually served a purpose, but it's probably just to try to flex one's vehicular muscle. What a waste of time, and a waste of fuel... I'm sure, even though those tanks are small, filling them is no cheap feat.
