I don't find the girl dumb. It's just her way of defining vegetarianism. For example, in India, milk is considered 100% vegetarian food, whereas in many parts of Europe, they consider milk non-vegetarian food!

In US, some people consider non- vegetarianism as eating beef or pork , whereas eating chicken would be considered vegetarianism.
