HAITI, (Sept. 9, 2008) Captain Fernandez Ponds, Mission Commander of Continuing Promise 2008, ride in a SH60 Seahawk helicopter assigned to USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) to meet with foreign officials from Haiti and observe the devastation from Hurricanes Gustav, Hanna and Ike. America’s contribution to the relief efforts were coordinated by the United states Agency for International development and its’ Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance.
