      there is no affect on instruments or gauges and we don't even feel it. but it would trip the electrical generators off line.

      The fist thing to check after lightning strike are the avionics, antennas and the compass.
      Then you have damage on the static discharger and along the rivets. We had an engine shut down due to ECC burn out. No big disasters happened for lightning strikes, but emergency landing yes.

      the bolt originally comes down, hits the front of the plane, conducts down the metal body and then out through the rear of the plane, which then connects to the ground......watch the freezeframe numbnuts
