Im talking about what people call indie nowadays. No one called Morrissey indie back then (definitely not as a genre anyway), nor does anyone call it indie now, except for a select few that actually know what the term indie used to stand for, or should I say, SHOULD stand for?

@ Viriatus. True, Nirvana isn't a bad band, just like the shins and the strokes aren't bad bands. They got overhyped and became the standard of the genre they're supposedly in, thus making all bands after them the same

Nirvana didn't ruined alternative rock, MTV did.

Saw these live at carlig leeds festaval....God they are a good live band....what a day that was. Also.... saw Beck..... The Doves.... and finally Blur.... was anybody there......

morrywinn. Mate, Indie was BORN in 1982 way before Nirvana existed. Morrissey and Marr were the beginning of indie. But don't forget indie isn't a type of music or a genre it stood for Alternative whether it be your record label or your mindset. cheers man.

Actually, the fact that Nirvana and others ruined alt rock is why indie was born as a term for the alt rock that was still alt. Then bands like the shins and the strokes ruined that (not that any of the aforementioned bands are bad.. they just changed what the genres stood for and practically "stole" them) and the clonage began; though there are some gems in there, like BRMC. Oh, and Electro was there WAY before any of this (early 80s) and doesn't sound anything like this.

XPARTY&X Primal scream/My Bloody Valentine etc invented what you've term Indie/Electro long before Kasabian. Dont get me wrong K's first album is psychedelic (Its Good).
