    The sides of the trailer are heavy canvas/composit that can be slid back to be loaded/unloaded from the ground like a flatbed truck. they are very versitile but are heaver than a standard dry van type truck. The freight on the truck may not be very heavy and may have shifted when the trailer went over covering the car and hiding the damage... you can see the cloth sides move as the rescuers walk on it before they lifted the truck off of the car. Also keep in mind that semi trailers are built as light as possible so they can haul more weight. So although the trailer looks as though it may crush a car the car is stronger than the trailer sides.

    Most people just see the tiny space between the lorry container and the ground. What they miss is that the car bent the side of the container and shifted the contents. Since the side of the container had touched the floor then so was not the car crushed further. So he survived because his car was still largely intact, and only bent, when they removed the container. Watch the video more closely to see this for yourself.
