Tow Truck Drivers Bad Day

If the truck has side out-riggers they where not out and that may have helped to save the truck, but I doubt it. The weight of the rolling truck could easily overcome the added leverage they would have offered but there are a number of factors working against the tow truck. Its on a side hill and not leveled out. The boom is raised, although surprisingly not as high I would of had it. The truck's suspension does not provide a stable platform making it easier to overturn.

Wheel chocks where not used, aways a must.

The brakes on the truck and tailer where pinned, its common practice to prep the truck and trailer for towing while its still on its side as it's easier to get to the parts you need to work on. A special bolt is inserted into the brakes to lock them so they can't be engaged and the drive shaft/s are removed from the truck. Then you put blocks of wood down to prevent the truck from rolling once it's back on it's wheels again.

This is what happens when you listen to the police officer when they give you a time limit to complete the job instead of properly planning and rigging up your winch out.

That's insane! I been a truck driver for 25 years and have been everywhere and thought I had seen everything. now I can say I have seen it all and really mean it. 80:1 they both got fired. The other 20 goest to the tow truck driver, he was probably an owner and learning the hard way.
