Successful Emergency Landing of JetBlue

I work next to the runway and I saw the whole thing from my company's roof building that was was quite an intense experiance. that pilot get nerves of steel my hat goes to him...

This pilot is very good. Pilots train for this kind of thing all the time, thankfully very few get to do it in real life. The main skill here, which shows him to be a cool, calm and skilled pilot, is the braking. As soom as the rear wheels touch down, watch as the pilot applies the wheel brakes. This should force the nose down but he uses the tail stabiliser to hold the nose off the ground whilst he slows the plane down. They call this aerodynamic braking. The voiceover in the video suggested that the pilot was applying reverse thrusters, this was not the case. Reverse thrusters requires all wheels on the ground because the front wheel is forced to support all that extra force.
What I would like to know is how the steerable front wheel became 90 degrees out of alignment in the first place. Was the pilot pulling spins before the plane took off?!

after the pilot landed the plane.. first passenger to come out was a lady holding her baby.. i think everybody smiled with joy after watching them move out from the plane... I even claped my hands when i saw that.. and the pilot insisted to keep his identity anonymous... brave and humble man... RESPECT!

The Airbus A320 (As I believe this plane is, or if not whatever the model is) is incapable of dumping fuel, as some news chanels reported it doing. It simply flew for several hours as the fuel onboard was burned off so that a fire woul not break out when they tried to land. The nose gear could not be raised after takeoff from Long Beach airport. They rerouted to LAX due to better emergency equipment.

as a pilot myself of a light sport aircraft. i can say with vidgelance thoes planes are as tough as their pilots.

It kept me crossing my fingers, hoping nothing wrong would happen.

I've tried landing a fully functioning plane in Flight Sim and haven't yet got it to a stop on a runway.

Actually I've never got it to a stop on an airport unless I hit a building. I can, however, land safely on water and my aircraft never sinks.

I've also found that I can land on open ground without even lowering my landing gear.

Nonetheless I would like to take my hat off to my colleague for what was exceptional control of his aircraft. To land and stop on a runway is hard enough. To do it with a dodgy wheel is impressive.
