    Well, after about the third time of watching it, I found out exactly what he did. First, look at the scratch marks when he comes out. When the camera turns to him, someone possibly rolls out a gray sheet of paper and lays down the manhole paper. When it turns back, you can notice the scratches are no longer there. Then he just carefully folds up the Manhole without moving the sheet.

    haha i hate to say it but this was a complete joke haha... first of all when the cut away and he stepped back they could have placed the paper manwhole on the ground. also the paper manhole is darker than the one shown in the first scene. lastly the thing that really gives it away was that the first manhole had the white screeches around it. the 'paper' manhole didnt have any and in the bottom right hand of the screen you can see the white streaks from the real manhole

    After he comes out of the manhole, he stands on top of the manhole and throws his gloves away from him...few seconds later he picks up his gloves on the top of the manhole...how did the gloves came on top of the manhole?

    Also once he comes out of the manhole he walks about 5 to 6 steps away from it (towards the big gray reactangle are on the floor by the wall) and then he walks back only about 3 to 4 steps to reach the sticker...!

    Definately the sticker was about a meter from the original manhole....

VIOLA! no scratches on the floor... means to say, when he was walking around after throwing down his gloves, his assistant when to do a double layer cover. grey (matching floor color) and another which is well... the manhole.

    If you look at the details, you will find out that it's a trick that can be performed only in front of a camera. He is simply planting a good quality picture of the sewage cover, on the floor, while he is walking and the camera guy is following him. You will notice that the locasion of the camera is another ;) (distance between lighter part of concrete and darker part)

    notice when he bends over to slide the top back over that he leaves a trail of white powder and scratch marks. When the camera is off the lid and focused on him talking, it disappears. by the time he leans down to wrap it up, its swept away. I think they covered the real sewer drain with something to match the street and placed a poster image of the lid on top. lol, try to get away with it in front of a real audience. But in all actuality, he is still an unbelievable magician

    I used to think Chris Angel was amazing, but the more popular he has gotten the less talent he seems to have.

    If you look on the ground when he rolls the drain cover up, there's a series of white blotches on the pavement / asphalt. If you back the video up, no white blotches. They simply moved the staging area of the trick forward about 4 feet. That's not showmanship, that's special effects.

    Noice that the scrape marks which were there on the first shot are no longer there. And notice he almost NEVER does a continous shot of the 'trick' area even when/if he tells the camera guy to do so. S**t I could make a whole stadium full of people dissapear if I just turn the cam and signal them all to leave and then pan the camera back.

    You can see the scratch marks on the road wherethey tried this twice before and even when he rolls up the fake manhole cover you can see the scratch makes where the real manhole cover is. I havent seen this guy before but what a wanker.

    he has a "image" placed slightly to the left and behind the actual manhole. check where the A&E symbol is and you can almost see the scratch marks from the original manhole scraping the pavement. Chris Angel is not very good, he relys on camera angles and staged audiences too much. just my opinion.

    The two spots are past the real cover, but after the zoom and forward move of the camera, they are closer than the fake cover. Obviously, someone lays down the fake cover and puts his gloves on it. Lame trick compared to his other stuff.

    He puts the cover back, stands, walks 4 steps back, 3 steps to the right, then 3 steps forwad, so now the real manhole cover is on the lower left side of screen just slightly out of view. Meanwhile of course someone puts the fake cover and gloves on the right and walks the camera 3 steps to the right.
