      Alright... maybe this is too much of a scale for u... think of it this way... say, God forbid(I am sorry if anyone here does not believe in God) a huge volcano goes off in Hawaii. Now about 10 minutes after the eruption nobody can walk, breath, or live in that place, NOBODY! But after a couple of hours, well I do not know exactly, the Lava cools off and it becomes rock, or land. Then it cools off and it is habitable again. This is exactly what happens, I think. The same way Hawaii got larger and drew out of the see and became an island in the middle of the water and got larger. Earth will become larger too. So think of it as a volacno, but just as a much much much larger scale. Hope I helped you

    this video rocks. its definitly created with some great computer animation experience. props to the creators.....but it makes no sense to me theoretically. reason I say this is because if you had a ball of liquid with an easily breakable crust......and pretend it was the size of a basketball. then you threw a baseball at it......would it only damage at the point of impact or would it blow out all around? we are not talking about an air filled balloon getting poked. we are talking about a ball of liquid lava with a shell of dirt. the force of that impact would push into the core causing the rest of the sphere to expand, and blowout, the earths crust is not elastic....it would crack all over, and life would end now. it would be a much quicker death of earth then 24 hours of fire waves burning up life. just my opinion. but great video. definity created with some skill in computer animation.

    in the vid you say around 10km (about 20 miles) of earth is ramove so why is it later in the vid that you show buildings still standing? also the only known time for and objest close to that size hit the earth was be for there was life (the impact that gave us the moon) around 4 billion years ago

    First, something that size, would turn the earth inside out. Secondly, those astroids that caused mass extictions were only around 2 to 3 km NOT 500km. Secondly, when those hit, it didn't cause a fire storm, it caused a massive dust cloud which caused global cooling and blocked sunlight. This is an extreme exageration. If anything that size hits the earth (which it has [even larger actually]) there would be no living organism left. The moon was formed when a giant wandering planet collided with the earth, causing it to turn inside out.

    1) Its a repeat for the about the 50th time.
    2) It's happened before, it will happen again. BIBLE or not. Thinking it won't is as naive as believing we are the only ones in the universe. Just simply a stupid and wrong assumption.
    3) When (not if) it happens, nothing would survive. Not even bacteria. The surface temp would be so high, everything would burn/melt/evaporate/etc
    4) Yes, it's a very cool clip. Very possible soon.How soon, no one knows.
    5) Anyone who doesn't think that #2 and #3 isn't possible, go back to your science notes from high school (if you even went), or grab some science books at the library, and educate yourselves. Asteroids hit the Earth all the time. Most just burn up or hit at the size of apples or small cars.

    Shooting stars. . ??? Rocks bouncing off the atmosphere. Educate, before you estimate.

      Dude. Think about. Bug may live without heads for a few days, bacteria may live in 80 degree Celsius (spelled right?) but when the entire surface of the earth is consumed in fire and all the ice melts in seconds, NOTHING will make it. everything is super heated/burned. and 80 degrees C is only 175 degrees F. Plenty can make it in that. I lived in 125 degrees F for a year in Iraq. a car engine runs hotter than both. do your research before yelling at someone for being a "basher".

      Evidence seems to indicate that there is a relationship with such mass extinction disasters and when a star passes through our local oort cloud. In such a case though we tend to be hit by many small and medium sized ones rather than the big ones. Got to love the latest space news though that says that in another solar system two planets recently collided and destroyed each other, Earth and Venus sizes were mentioned. Now that IS the BIG ONE.

    Its hard to say because there are too many say about warming globe waring, Nucler bomb, many thing different .. That was science figure this out.. Soo most important is read bible and they will tell you what will happened..
