It's not clear to me that the whole thing didn't take place in the same spot exactly as shown. There's only one angle where you can see behind the cougar, so there very well could have been a river where they were. Why does multi-cameras mean "fake"? A lot of nature footage is shot from more than one angle. However, I'm not intimately familiar with Staufer's material, is he known for staging such events?

everyone knows that the bear didn't want to attack the cougar. if somebody want to take any difference between the skills of this animals this person is a fool because this video is just a fact that the mother cougar ready to die for her little! I like bears and cougars, dont make any difference between them, it is not our task. :)

You can easily see that the footage is shot by few cameras. Also on on of shots there is a river behind the cougar.

The bear is certainly bigger and stronger, but the cat also has some devastating tools and great quickness. I wouldn't call anything a sure bet in a fight in the wild. The cat is quite capable of hurting the bear. She sent him on his way here, didn't she?

monox, I did not say that the cougar can kill a bear but not so idiot to take a serious fight against it. the evidence of the bear's strength is clear, it is more powerful but the cougar can escape very easily. I just sad the cougar not so stupid to kill itself.this cougar take force on the bear because he got a littleone. this mothersip is very honorable I think. :)

I wouldn't bet on the bear "easily" killing a big cat. Cat's of any size are extremely powerful pound for pound, they're fast as hell and are equipped with dangerous claws and fangs. Bears are strong and fast and have a lot of mass but they're also not too bright.

So what´s the point of this video?
a) to see how nature is perfect on making mothers protection to their babies?
b) to prove that cougars are best?

I agree with a but disagree with the b. Because I would like to see how well would do a cougar near an agressive brown bear female with cubs.
Nature is fair with all, not only with some. And I think that this bear didn´t killed the cougar because he realized that wasn´t worth it.

don't be fooled by a bears size though.. they can be incredibly fast. That bear really didn't have much interest in the cougar or it would've fought and won.

It looked to me like that bear was trying to protect it's eyes. No creature wants to get injured out there in the wild cause it can't hunt. Bears have weaknesses too: eyesight and they're slower (though huge and powerful).
