and i agree totally i havent rrained in quite a few months now due to a recent move away from my trainer - and i've never had a better trainer than him but watching this has inspired me to drive the 300 miles back to my home twon twice a month and train for a weekend with him just to keep myself topped up - i adore this sport and will never let myself slip again - good luck with your training also my friend :)

I have watched this film over and over and I find it just super. I do Tae Kwon Do here in the UK with my kids and husband and I enjoy it immensely. By the way, does anyone know the name of the song and of the vocal artist on this film? I have been watching this over and over just to listen to the song as it is just great!

    • Where to get this great song!

Thanks a lot fightspirit for giving me the name of the song and the artist. I bought the Kang SanE album "Salmon" from a Korean seller on ebay.co.uk and I am well pleased. For anyone else interested in this track, ebay.co.uk seller "everything-ok" (that's his seller name) was happy to source the album for me and ship it to England. I received it within two weeks of payment from South Korea. I am delighted!! I just love the song!

  • I really like the song

oh, these kicks..they're not really strong compared to what we learn in the military in korea.. we learn how to kick with the point of our foot.. wow... I was suprised that with combat boots on, this most definitely kills the opponent with one shot. well, but we don't exactly fight wars with our feet, do we?

  • The spirit within

I have trained in TKD for a year and two month now and taking my first dan black belt test next week, i have to say that watching these videos makes you relize why you are training, not every day we get to see masters at work , and that is our inspiration ;)

    • Its not the years it's the hours

you probably could do 1st dan in a year - especially if you had trained in another style first. Question for you all. Someone who trained 7 hours a day 5 days per week for a year =1820 hours. If you do 3hours per week x 4 years = 624 hours. They have done the equivalent of 12 years (approx) of your training. So who is the more proficient 1st Dan?

    • For clarity

      Forgot to say.
My 1st Dan took 7 years at approx 12 hours per week =2548 hours. The next 27 years only got me 4 more grades in TKD to 5th Dan

no one in any style gets there blackbelt in 1 year and two months , go to a regconised assocation and not a cowboy one. It takes years to get a blackbelt and loads of training and putting yourself thru hell to get there! good luck on finding the right martial arts path, cheers ike.

    • Black Belt in 1 year and 2 months?

Where do you train? I have trained/taught Tae Kwon Do for over 18 years now and have NEVER heard of anyone testing for 1st Dan in 1 year and 2 months....1st Dan takes a minimum of 3-4 years to attain..Do you train at one of those places where money=belt? Let me guess...your Instructor/Master isn't even Korean??

    • Black Belt Requirement? Taught by a Kore...

I cant believe that someone even made this comment. Some of the very best TKD practitioners in the world today arent of Korean origin.
Yes, of course its a korean martial art/sport but that doesnt mean a person has to learn from a Korean instructor.
I agree that the time normally takes 3-4 years but in Korea it generally takes about 2 years from 0 to black belt.
      Every person is unique.
BTW-I have personally trained with Korean instructors and Non-Korean instructors. I have personally met quite a few Korean Instructors who got on the plane a first dan BB and the minute the hit American soil they were GrandMaster. Money.....I've met both types....those in it just for the money and those in it for the martial arts. I have also met some who are in it for both. Nothing wrong with that....an expert with 5-10 years or 20-30 years of experience deserves to make whatever the market will bear. doctors or professional athletes are the highest paid people in the world. Why not a professional martial artist?

I am interested in starting TKD and did my first months years ago. Because of moving I lost connection to the sport.
Always thougt it takes forever to proceed and gain the higher rated belts. How comes you made this so fast???

    • never too late to start again....

some do jangs are better than others. some give out belts like candy if you pay enough, and others actually make you work for it. and usually you will find that a black belt who acheived his rank within such a short time at one school would demonstrate something simple, like a round kick, no better than another school's yellow belt. we have ppl in our school who have been doing it for 6 years and they have their blue or red belts.
