      It's genius. That "cover up" is the real knack!
      To fall on you head and smoothly get on your feet is one of the best talents you should have when you do these stuff. I know that also since I practice these stuff, and I mostly work on smoothing my falls and not prevent them. You can't be perfect and never fall - you have to practice on your falls, otherwise - one fall and you might be dead.

    I can see this skill being useful in a fight against multiple opponents... but will he actually be able to land the kicks on his opponents effectively, and will they be forceful? cuz right now, all you see him doing is kicking in mid-air at no real targets...

    I guess it's not exactly a martial-art, but some kind of dancing. Yeah, it IS messy, but that's what "Freestyle" is, right? I think it's awesome, literally, to be able to do it so messy! He does fall sometimes, probably more than they show here, but it's AAAWESOOOME how he do it, trick after trick, flip after flip, stopping only after about 6-7 tricks...
