but somehow I made it through school without a cell phone. If there was an emergency, the secretary would come to the class and let you know.
Both of my parents were teachers and I feel that cell phones should be kept in the students lockers. They can still check their messages during breaks, but wouldn't interfere with class.
I am a youth leader and it is very distracting to have someone on the phone texting or whatever while your trying to teach a lesson.

It all comes down to respect. Kids today just don't have any respect for teachers (adults).

Shouldn't have a damn phone in the class in first place. Emergencies should be called to office. Phones are disruptive, and extremely disrespectful to the professor. Professor should've just kicked the student out of class and given a bad grade for the day. His actions were pretty harsh.

Cell phones are the worst thing to happen to people in a long time. They cause accidents and bring out the worst manners in a person.

turn off the phone or set it to silent mode, dont answer phone if its not an urgent call...

Teacher shud give students 10 seconds at start of class to put ALL cellphones OFF-any phones makin noise before end of class shud be destroyed like this one-if the owner had been a guy instead of a girl,I wudda clocked him one too!

He was right.. she's wrong, her phone rang one time and she didn't switch it off, she should've done it immediately, if she entered the classroom and forgot to switch it off.. we all forget.. even when we r at a cinema, and when the phone rings it reminds us to turn it off so we do it.. But why this stupid girl didn't do it?!! She deserves the reaction of the teacher towards her!

If you can't control your cell phone then the teacher will do it for you.

she deserved it, in our country, taking video is allowed in class for review purposes, even laptops, make sure you don't tap a wireless connection or else, your pretty buddy will end up like that of the girls mobile phone, you don't want to get caught browsing porn sites ^^

I still find the teacher a considerable person for ignoring the first offense, but the girl just didnt have respect for the teacher for letting her phone rang the 2nd time so loud that it disturbed the whole class, if its an emergency, she could have answered it in some place outside the room, worse, she still answered it infront of the teacher.. if the girls phone was on silent mode, none of these would have happened..

I would punch him in the face if i was there, seriously he has no right to break something that costs 150+$ just like this..

Teacher should first remind the student verbally. He showed not a good process of giving good example handling student at all . So dont laugh!!!!!

Good for the Teacher. Should have left the phone in the locker or at home. When I was going to high school cell phones were just coming out as big bricks. No one was allow'd to bring them to school or even a beeper. Supsensions or even Explusions could happen. This girl is lucky. NOT!!! :)

but the girl had it coming. I went thru school without the use of cel phones, like the other comment said, emergency and someone calls the office. My kids have cel phones and if they use them in school and get caught, they lose their phone for 2 weeks. Doesn't sound harsh to me, but to them its their lifeline!! Moral of the story, DON'T USE YOUR CEL PHONE IN CLASS!!

no instead where i go if you get caught with a cell if it has a camerea on it they delete everything on the phone. if it doesnent have a camera they go through your numbers.

before typing this, i have been through a number of comments and "critiques" from different individuals and i must say i am most unimpressed with the use of language by some commentators. If you must talk back at another critic or commentator, I think a certain level of formalty should put you in check. There should be some show of intellect in your assesment of video clips put on this site. But rather I get to see things like s...t and f...k and f...king and more s...t. I believe a lot of you are students condemning a girl's action but I dare to say "you have no right to judge her because your use of language tells alot of negative things about your orientation, background and perception of the world around you".

Amazing to say the least. First, the student chose not to turn off her phone on the first call. Secondly, not only did it ring again, but she rudely chose to answer it and continue to talk while the instructor approached her. Finally, the instructor took matters into his own hands and turned off her phone. Albeit not in a common way, nor the way she might have chosen, but he turned it off none the less.
End result is no more phone problems, and all students in that school are now aware of the consequences of ignoring school policy towards cell phones.
Furthermore, the student nor her parents are poor, for if they are truely poor they couldn't afford the cell phone in the first place, so no crying and playing the "poor card."

I can understand all the fuss if he had broken her phone the first time it rang. But he didn't, just continued with the class, because it might have been a mistake. However, she didn't turn it off or even bother to put it on silent mode - like she didn't care. So when it went off again, he caught on to her I-don't-care attitude and did her and the rest of the class a favor by removing the distraction and teaching her a lesson - albeit the hard way.

iT DOES NOT MATTER IF U CAN AFFORD TO HAVE A NEW ONE OR NOT, YOU SHOULDNT KEEP IT ON DURING CLASS, THATS ONE OF THE REASONS TO USE VOICE MAIL....

STUDENTS RESPECT YOUR TEACHERS, THEIR TIME AND THEIR KNOWLEDGE, DONT BE SUCH A PRICKS

well...those who have mobile,..those kind of things usually happen....it's best if the teacher could have instruct the student to just turn the mobile off and leave the classroom rather then breaking her mobile....common teacher learn to hold up your anger in some uncertain circumstances..

i'd asked her to give me the handphone respectfully (respect your children if you want them respect you) and told her to asked her parent (who buy her handphone) to meet me to get her handphone and arrange awritten agreement for the next consequence if she'll do it again in the classroom.
