This is the actual First Flight Video Link
The United States and eight international participants are involved in the F-35’s funding, development, production and sustainment. Three versions of the F-35 will be produced:
F-35A CTOL variant for conventional runways
STOVL F-35B for operating off small ships and near front-line combat zones
And the F‑35C carrier variant (CV) for catapult launches and arrested recoveries aboard the U.S. Navy’s large aircraft carriers.
FORT WORTH, Texas, June 11th, 2008 --
The first Lockheed Martin F-35B short takeoff/vertical landing stealth fighter takes off from Lockheed Aeronautics in Fort Worth, Texas, on its inaugural flight Wednesday, June 11.
The jet, which will be used by the U.S. Marine Corps, the United Kingdom and Italy, is the first aircraft to combine stealth with supersonic speed and short takeoff/vertical landing capability.
With test pilot Graham Tomlinson at the controls, the short takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL) Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] F-35B Lightning II streaked into blue Texas skies Wednesday, marking the first flight of an aircraft that will provide a combination of capabilities never before available: stealth, supersonic speed and STOVL basing flexibility. Tomlinson, a former Royal Air Force Harrier pilot now employed by BAE Systems.
An amazing advancement for the USMC. Enemies beware!!!!!
By teflan08 1223350986 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIs this not a joint aircraft with the US and UK?
By FletchRFC 1223331751 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe Royal Navy wants this plane for their Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers, Joint origanally meant the joint U.S. Military services as the air force was replacing the F-16, the Navy replacing the F/A-18A, & the Marines replacing the Harrier 2. the airfoce version is fairly stealthy, the Navy version will be very stealthy, & the marine corps version won't be very stealthy at all. the level of stealthyness is decided by the service using it.
By Truckamuk 1232489584 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis jet called JSF F-35 Program. US, UK, Italy, Nederland, Canada, Turkey, Australia, Norway and Denmark. Israel and Singapore join also.
The thing is, US need their money for produktion but they dont want to give them ToT, so the member will be the only costumer that will always dependant to US for technology and spare part. Thats why Australia and UK became dissappointed, but latest news that US will give to Israel (only prticipant in this project) and neglect UK as the the level 1 partner with 10% contribution

Italy
Netherland
Turkey

that a jumpjet? First one I seen was at the Ramstein Air Show in Germany. A jet came zooming in and started slowing down. I thought that it was just catching the air currents just right. But, then it came to a stop. What the Heck? Then, it tilted from one side to another. Then it did a 180 and floated down and landed. I had to pick my jaw up off of the ground. I'd never heard of one before. This was back in the late 70s.

By oussamio 1229981350 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveGreat looking plane! Nothing new about the concept though - the British Harrier has been doing that since the '60s and been in service for 30+ years.
By phantomflier 1225445249 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeonly it was real it would be nice.. nice animation though but could be better. add some sand and wind effect when it start when it land do a smooth start not a statc one and it could be better in a matter of 72 hours of work .
