I don't think I'll notice the face change, but I'll notice any voice change, including accents.

I trained security staff and for 20 years and also self defence and noticed that people are usually so caught up in their own minds that they notice very little of what is going on :)

that made me laugh...
most people cant pay attention if they're too focused on something..

They would have noticed the change if there wasn't a perfect distraction of the picture. People suddenly drop evertything and concentrate on the picture to know that what/who that is since that is more interesting in human mind(we see people all the time, so less interesting). That's precisely what makes them go blank literally blanking their short term memory.

Also since they were task focused and distracted you have to wonder if it would have clicked later. They could have also been aware and surprised but played along to avoid a fuss.

In the two women clip the older woman noticed because she was not distracted.

My conclusion is that past science research clearly proves that people do indeed overlook things that are out of place.
