Martial Art Techniques at its very Best.! An awesome display of Kung Fu from the Chinese national team.
I used to practice karate a little and I can hardly imagine how difficult that must be. They are great.
what an awesome display of martial arts expertise. I've practiced go ju ryu karate for 6 years now, and I know it takes years to practice these kinds of moves.
By teflan08 1224736317MMA cage fighting first came out with no rules and no weight classes?
Do you remember what form of Martial Arts DOMINATED everything until they turned into sell outs and started implementing the rules?
If you don't, let me help you:
It was
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
There's probably a reason for that.
Yes there is. I will ignore the fact that the Gracie family just happened to be the ones who put on the event and stick to the merits of the styles.
All styles have strengths and weaknesses. For BJJ, the strengths are it is good in cage matches. The weaknesses are:
a) you must have one AND ONLY ONE opponent
b) the fight must take place on a surface that is friendly to grappling (asphault, cement, gravel will not work)
c) the style vulnerable to someone knowledgable of pressure points.
There are some 300 different forms of Kung Fu. Some even specialize in grappling. All are beneficial in a fight, just like any training is.
The issue is not whether one style is better than another, but how the style fits the martial artist. People with agression and strength should go with certain types of karate or Hung Gar or Tiger claw Kung fu; people with speed may opt for Mantis, boxing, or jkd; those who need a purely practical art should look at Krav Maga. It depends on the person and their situation. No one art is better than all the rest.
The bottom line is BJJ dominated everything and every other martial art form that got in the ring with it.
I don't know anything about fighting multiple opponents, but I can see what you are saying. On the other hand, I have never seen a competition anywhere that involved multiple fighters going after a single defender. Except in thos silly Bruce Lee movies where 100 guys line up and attack him one at a time like robots.
I will say this, in my line of work, I deal with the social rejects of society...and when they get stupid we go after them 5 deep. Not once in 15 years have I ever seen a man resist those odds. Not once, not even close.
when we are talking about martial arts, we are speaking most of real world application, not ring fighting or competition.
Outside a ring, one must consider the terrain one is fighting on, the number of opponents, the possibility of weapons, and a multitude of other factors.
Also, taking on multiple opponents is not all that difficult, even if there are 5 deep, provided one has the training and the setting to do so. In a jail or prison setting, it is all but impossible. However, in, say, a bar, where a single martial artist faces 5 untrained or minimally trained opponents, the odds of, is not victory, at least an escape are pretty good. All one has to do is move in such a way that you are facing one attacker and the rest are behind him. You then quickly and viciously take out that fist guy and move to the one behind him. Once you take out that one, there is an exceptional chance that the remaining 3, seeing the grotesquely broken limbs or bleeding wounds of their comrads, will back down. POOF you have just taken down 5 opponents. This can not be done under the bjj system.
Finally, in the early days, how many kung-fu practitioners competed? I remember exactly 1 and I was not convinced of his training.
while im sitting infront of my pc, eating chips, getting fatter and fatter
;)
YES, wu shu is juste gymnic exercices ,not the thrues martial arts for fight, like the wing chun or hungar ,choi lee fut, and others. but nice vdo !
