A nice way to change a tire... How do they do that?
Won't the tire deflate again once the air inside cools back to the ambient air temperature?
By Pow! 1154949839...because the tire isn't inflated. It has only been "blown" in place and now needs to be filled with more air. These are tubeless tires so therefore it is pointless to start pumping before they are correctly placed.
Also, one can't simply use oxygen. This guy is holding a can of ether (common engine start aid).
do this in the bus industry...its just to stick the tire to the rim, you still have to fill the tire with air. although, those tires probably only need 5lbs of air in them so you might not need to fill them in this case

With no spaces.
thats easy to answer...in high heat, O2 expires. so when he uses flames on it, it expiere very quick. Normally, it takes ½-1 hour in sun (24-27 degrees) before it advance that much
By Ronin799 1155300655this how we do´t and mountain and glacier trips in Iceland
By JaymanViking 1155140234Nothing new to a wrench. We also used a little gasoline. Pour around the
rim, strike a match...wala. Same results. It's a good tip in a pinch.
Some kind of flameable gas is sprayed into the tire. Oxygen and flameable gasses expand very fast when it gets very hot. Thats how it is possible to inflate that tire so fast.
By Yacht 1154625080My dad showed me how to do this a long time ago. This is how we would fix the tires on his bobcat. You just spray some liquid fire in the tire, put the tire on and light it.
By JV123 1154449850The little green elf next to the potion shop sells it for 60 gold coins, or you can trade him your celestial fire sword for it. You have to be level 52 magician in order to enter Urula.
By link- 1154458236Good one. I have a hard time finding my way back to that potiosn shop
By hpguy 1154579343they keep changing it.. damn!
hahahahaha funny comment link-
go in the cave. Beat the all the monster, and after you'll get a special gem. The gem is just as good as the liquid fire.
A lot of things (including tyres :D), will expand when theyre are cold, and are warmed up quickly. Simply :D
By Vu0hi 1154348689Its more easy then you think . When your tire is on the rim , with no pressure , add some fuel in it , fire it on , and the explosion will blow up the tire untill the rims , after then you have to compres the tire to its right pressure , with a kompressor or bicyclepump , i have seen it on discovery channel
By dragon52 1154381752I think it´s from the Artic trucks trip to the south pole....or the north pole...whatever.It´s pretty cool, they fill the tire up with start fluid and make it explode onto the rims
By ribouzman 1154281241North Pole is ocean.. south pole is Antarctica... north pole arctic circle, south pole antarctic circle..
By yunakri 1154319856the ocean is usually a few hundred metres UNDER the ice cap. Geographically the South Pole is on land and the North pole is in the Ocean but the ice caps in these regions are very thick.
By Ozzie 1154324254some huge iceburgs where santa clause lives
and those trucks are magic elf finding units and they use super duper juice that is flammable and they got it from the tooth farie in the twilight zone which is actually not existing cuz the show ended about 50 years ago
There is more more north pole I know about stared my Peter North, and thats the best one
By SHOSTing 1154344841I thought that super juice came from fire breathing dragons but I could be wrong. there are not many fire breathing dragons at the north pole.
By Orrty 1154336955look like they spray the flammable inside the tire then they shoot it with some flame the explosion pops the tire back on the bead I worked in a tire shop for 2 years and thats how we get the tire back on the rim but w/out the fire just alot of air pressure
By natedog79420 1154280579I think it´s from the Artic trucks trip to the south pole....or the north pole...whatever.It´s pretty cool, they fill the tire up with start fluid and make it explode onto the rims.
By TheANALyzer 1154276453All you need is a can of diethyl ether (or simply engine start aid). You can see that the person "fills up" the tire with this gas and then simply sets it on fire. The explosion makes the tire grip the rim.
But you'll probably have to inflate it a bit, the tire only looks inflated but really isn't. Many of these incredible 4x4's are equipped with systems that can deflate and inflate tires even while the vehicle is moving, simply by pressing buttons inside the car.
For those who are interested, being able to do that is extremely convenient - normally the tires have very little pressure, allowing the car to simply float over any snow (or sand for that mater). You can't drive with so little air in the tires over rocks or frosen snow. Regulating tyre air pressure is therefore common and need to be done quickly.
Pretty amazing actually... And since I now have the chance: It is really funny to see the proud faces of the American Hummer owners when they realize just how worthless they are in comparison to these "Icelandic" custom ones.
c",)
you mean another country's truck (i.e. Toyata or Chevrolet) with a suspension lift and bigger tires?
Possibly a low gear added to the trans for low end torque? Thats not that hard to do actually, US truck owners have been doing it for a long time. Given a similarly outffitted Hummer H1 vs a Toyota Land Cruiser, my money's on the H1 .. sorry mate.
Btw, cool video. Tire inflation is due to air expansion from heat rather than any explosion of chemicals, but I'm probably splitting hairs. =p
Of course Icelanders are not the only ones doing this type of modifications, sorry for any misunderstanding mate.
However, I've been on numberous expeditions over Icelandic glaciers and on several occations we had modified Hummers with us in the group. The drivers were from the military base in Keflavik and very happy with their trucks (well, let's just call them cars).
Their trucks simply didn't cut it... And you can look it up - even the American military in Iceland is using Toyotas modified by Arctic Trucks as multi-function resque wehicles, and not American ones.
But please, the remark about this was actually irrelevant and just a joke. Probably even a bad one. And of course you don't have to appologize for having an oppionion on Hummer, be my guest.
had to drive a H1 over pure snow covered ice, so I'll conceded to your experience with the subject, and be open minded to custom Toy's etc being better on such surfaces.
I have, however, driven just about every possible suv on the market (and worked on them mechanically) and can easily say the H1 is the best off road vehicle I've ever been in. Life or death situation involved, the only thing I would possibly pick over a H1 would be a Unimog (sorry land rover owners). I say this with complete unbias, I really dislike H1's for pure driving use and sigh at the idiots that drive them on the streets.
Then again, I sigh at all the pretty suv's on the streets of the ol US that never have and will never will see a trail in their gas guzzling days. Such a waste.
I used to work at a tire shop and sometimes the tire changer wasn't strong enough so we would have to do this with ether and a match.
By established roots 1154272287iceland too i hear. neat trick.hope never to have to use it,lol
By dont believe a word 1154252073if i want to put a spare tyre on... i'll that spray and fire... cool.. NO PROBLEM
