"In the Philippines people respect the belief about the supernatural, we do have lots of paranormal experiences here in the outsourcing industry - every building in three cities is haunted. Here in our building alone, the whole structure and every floor acts as a "psychokinetic magnet." These are shots taken in one of our northern provinces. They say its an "aswang" in flight (its the half-body torso with wings in our Philippine folklore)."

After zooming in and having owned the sony powershot I would say for certain this is a real photo. The blurring of the edges is caused by the powershot when it is trying to see the object. As to the comment of the wing always being upward. Read palentogist reports on the flying dinosaurs. It is speculated that they were to big to flap their wings and glided. flying squirrels do the same thing when hitting updrafts.

Last week I plowed through the NYT archve and I stumbled upon this report:
One day last week a marvelous apparition was seen near Coney Island. At the height of at least a thousand feet in the air a strange object was in the act of flying toward the NewJersey coast. It was apparently a man with bat's wings and improved frog's legs. The face of the man could be distinctly seen, and it wore a cruel and determined expression.
