In an extraordinary moment in USA's history, Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has won the 2008 presidential election and will become the 44th president of the United States and the country's first African-American leader.

"Because of what we did on this day, in this election, in this defining moment, change has come to America," Obama told 125,000 supporters gathered in Chicago's Grant Park to celebrate his victory.

"If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer," he added.

"A new dawn of American leadership is at hand," Obama said.

he tackled the middle east situation head -on and talked to the elected representatives of the palestinians - what an excellent start that would be.

  • Let´s hope

That Obama measures up to the task. Just because he is black doesn´t mean anything. Just because he is a democrat doesn´t mean anything. Just because he is a Harvard graduate, doesn´t mean anything.

It is one thing to talk about the statesmanslike qualities and the oratorship of Martin Luther King, and his prophetic voice and another to talk about Obama.

  • Fixing Bush's Mistakes

won't be easy. It was Bush who took away our freedom and the 4th amendment with his wire tapping and spying. The Patriot Act must be abolished and Obama can fix it. Obama will also keep the DEA out of California and other states who have medical pot. There are many good things Obama will do for America.
