A plane crashes at takeoff and all you can see is a big explosion.
YES. It's an automated plane like ANY modern aircraft today. Airliner or jet fighter.
But this footage was taken during an air show where the muppets on the commands "just" desactivated the onboard computer (which would not have allowed to be so low, so SLOW) AND forgot that putting back trust takes 10 seconds to be effective.
The pilots were 100% faulty for the crash that killed over 100 people (since then, no more passengers in the cabins during air showns by the way).
IF the computer would have been turned on, this would never have happened!
why should computers need something like a cockpit???

By Swanie 1154606772 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removepeople never make mistakes, only computers who man them? or i didn't properly get the meaning of vice-versa...

By Swanie 1154915400 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removenational geographic channel there was 3 test pilots to watch the landing when air france (airbus)was testing a new computer that cud land a plane without pilots ..
By biggan 1154603753 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeon how well the computer handles the plane it was fully laden with passengers. not sore on how many died though
By chaostheory89 1154807392 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeglitches to work out in that computer

By hpguy 1154580855 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe newly delivered aircraft was to perform a charter flight on behalf of the Mulhouse Flying Club. The crew was to overfly Mulhouse-Habsheim airport two times (first at low speed, gear down at 100ft and the other at high speed in clean configuration) as part of an airshow. The aircraft took off from Basle-Mulhouse at 2:41pm local time and climbed to 1000 feet. The crew started the descent three minutes later and Habsheim was in sight at 450ft agl. The first officer informed the captain that the aircraft was reaching 100ft at 14:45:14. The descent continued to 50ft 8 seconds later and further to 30-35ft. Go-around power was added at 14.45:35. The A320 continued and touched trees at the end of the runway at 14:45:40 with a 14° pitch attitude and an engine speed of 83% N1. The plane sank slowly into the forest and a fire broke out. Failure of the Captain to maintain sufficient altitude and airspeed for recovery after a low approach to a runway with obstacles near the departure end.

how can so many people make comments that are so wrong? is there some compelling need for people to contribute on things they know nothing about? i mean, really, it only takes two seconds to google something to know what's true or not...
By realist999 1154887570 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveEEEE.....It's not a Airbus,It'a a Boeing 767 from Air France.
By jesse0906 1154526485 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removefrom WIKIPEDIA link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbus_A320
Quote:"Early crashes, including the Air France A320 crash during an airshow in Habsheim, France, on 26 June 1988, dented the image of the A320 and its new computer controlled fly-by-wire technologies (Video of the crash). The cause of the crash remains in dispute, as the investigation was hindered by the tampering of essential evidence[1]. Officially, the crash was attributed to pilot error. However, some suggest that the new computer systems and previously known deficiencies of the aircraft were the actual cause of the accident."
The plane crashed at a yearly show for planes (don't remember where) some years ago. You can see the plane flying by, and making no intention for a landing. However, while its nose is up in the air, the pilot could not see the trees and crashed. Both pilot and co-pilot died.
By BelgianWaffle 1154511866 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removetthis wasn't a test flight it had passengers and air us were just showing off. not sire how many died
By chaostheory89 1154813783 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhy does the dumbass filming this say "oh la la la" and then "oh non oh non oh non"?. The plane is clearly about to crash as it skims the tops of trees and disappears into the wooded area, but you can hear genuine surprise in the guy's voice when he sees smoke and hears an explosion. What a shocker! Dumbass...
By nobodyreally 1154509399 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveA smaller plane was automated and exploded on it't landing this time.
By ringu2 1154504084 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis was an experimental plane created by Airbus and Air France in an attempt to develop remote flying technoogy; i.e. no pilot on board but on the ground; obviously, such technology is a long way away; however, unless we are to stretch our horizon how will we know where the limits are.
By quebec 1154515098 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethere were minimal crew on board who died, hence the oh no's.
it was a low flyby at an airshow but the fly by wire took over the controls in an attempt to land as the computers thought it was on a landing trajectory. this was overlooked at the initial testing as fly by is not an inherant part of the programming. no matter how hard the pilot tried to lift, the on board computer brought it down, it was too late by the time the pilot had over ridden the computers.
I feel so sorry for those passengers, may god be with them.
By Zizou is best 1154504054 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeim sure this was a test and there wasnt anyone inside.
ps: they can never replace us pilots ;)
You know, those domino blocks where you would try really hard to stack them together and arrange them so that something cool happens when you tip one over, and you get all frustrated trying to get it to work just right when you tip them over but it doesn't work? This is like a really, really expensive version of that.
By stats 1154616400 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis is a test flight . Airbus has always been dreaming that fly by wire technology will lead them to fly their aircraft by computer ground controled.
Well as u can see, Thank god we are still needed in the cockpit !
this was only a flight test with an automatic airplane. nobody died.. unfortunally the landing was not good .. but nobody was involved
