I think is snowing verry rarely and that's why the drivers could not stop in time, though there was enogh room to do it. Beside the road goes down so they had a biger problem.

is NOT to panic and NOT to brake, making the wheels roll and thus changing the direction of the car is more probable.
Just not a clever act to jump out of the car, it could have been worst!

people sell snow chains during this kind of weather, they end up like this when they lazy to buy one or use one.

I use to lived in Chicago, and i went through a situation like that.. That's scary. you can't do nothing.. just wait for the chash lol.

.. I feel sorry for every one involved
but when a motorist finds out that he has a problem coming uphill because of ice
he or she should know that the problems are opposite gong downhill.
It would be appropriate to put on your waning lights in such situations,
and the use of winter tires will help also. The latter is prescribed in Germany.
