  • AWESOME!

Thank you for posting this. I've only seen grainy black & white.
The new Iron Maiden song "The Longest Day" is about "D" Day. Seeing this and listening to that song makes it more real.
Peace to all! That is what this was about - real freedom!

  • Quoting Bart Simpson:

There are no good wars, with the following exceptions: The American Revolution, World War II, and the Star Wars Trilogy

  • My God

are those the evil Americans? The great Satans? the very same ones that gave europe back to Great Britain, France, belguim, etc.? The ones who asked nothing in return except to bury their dead where they fell. my uncles who served there? Is this the same euopeans who are turning their backs on us now when we need their support? No, can't be.....

    • USA supported freedom and justice

and for that we are thankful.
But many of USAs later wars seem unjust and imoral. And that we will not support.
USA isn't right all the time. Some Americans seem to have a hard time accepting this.
We turned our backs on president Bush. We have hope that Obama will bring freedom and justice back. Something we can all get behind.

    • I think your answer shows

that you are incrediby prejudice...there is NOTHING diiferent about what we did in WWII (liberating you from nazism or facism) then what we are doing now (liberating people from a brutal dictator or innocent women from brutal religious zealots). The only difference is the people's ethnicity that we're saving. Of courtse it's OK that we liberated you when the nazi's were coming, but to liberate moderate muslims is somehow wrong. That just shows how superior you feel you are to other races/religions. I'll bet if you were one of those 50 million people George Bush set free in Afganistran or Iraq you'd be a lot more thankful. Think about it from someone elses perspective next time and stop being so egocentric to your own selfish needs.

    • u r right, but...

i'm a german and european. we are in eternal dept of the sacrifices of the use in the WW2!!! and as the ruling liberator of europe against that evil nazi regime, we build up a very deep cooperation with the usa. a deep friendship. ....
but let me qoute:"[...]the very same ones[...]".
NO...they are not the the very same ones! they makes. and after all the decades we must to emancipat us so we can criticilyse the acts of the usa!!

And if follow the wold-policy u should know that europe support the usa in their wars on many kinds!

      [sorry for my bad english]

  • fantastic!!

    5 stars!!!
(Now if we can just get someone to mention the 100's of thousands of soldiers from other countries who fought against the Nazis history will be better served. It wasn't just Americans.)

    • screw you

politically correct moron. the US gave everything to defeat ALL the aggressors and asked for absolutely nothing in return when we could've taken anything we wanted. Just say thanks and screw off moron.

    • The only true winner of the war

      was USA.
USSR won a part of the world, but was secluded.
UK won the moral victory, but was exhausted.
The US could never have beaten the nazis, had it not been for the vast price the Soviets payed for defeating the nazis on the east front. Look into it.
D-Day could never have been, had it not been for UKs solitary stand against the nazis, while the nazis were given ears in Washington.

    • That's a joke

Right? Study your history better and examine how much material we gave the russians (that they later stole and copied for post cold war use). without those munitions they would've never beat the germans. We could've beaten the germans, in a little more time, but we could;ve easily done it after we developed the a-bomb.

    • u are right

but the only reason of this was, that the usa is situated on another continent. u know that the french, uk and in an evil way, the sovjets destructed most of the germans factories for rebuilding it in their countrys?!
