great goal - I love it but its illegal
OK guys many years ago in the 70s this idea and similar ideas like two legged back heel flips were used to loft the ball in dead ball situations like indirect free kicks which were then volleyed into goal. It resulted in some superb goals (like this one) but FIFA looked into it and dissallowed these goals in future games. Its 30 years ago now...maybe this ref wasn't even born then LOL
As I remember it the problem was the ball must be kicked the length of one circumference before being "in play" and the circular overhead lift is not a striking kick that allows the ball to roll UN-touched for the required distance. This rule is like saying "you have touched the ball for several feet instead of passing it to someone else" and in a free kick you CANNOT pass to yourself.

  that you don't really know or sure bout it. that rule is for indirect freekick ONLY which this rule MIGHT still work these day. an for normal free kick, like cruzeiro mentioned, you can even flip the ball with your d*ck

  many years ago in the 70's a defender passed the ball back to his keeper, and he picked it up, without a free kick being conceded....... my point is rules change, especially when u r talkin about 30+ years i reckon things just "may" have changed

  thr goal I'm talking about was scored by "Erine" Hunt (Roger) for Coventry City in 1970 televised on Match of the Day. If you check youtube you can see it there...and read how IT WAS BANNED
