Just watched this video and I thought it was cool. Now, I am an AMERICAN that LOVES futbol AND football.

Colubia were playing England, and he made this save from Englands free kick... The referee (Umpire) had already blown for another foul, so if England had scored it wouldn't have counted as a Goal... he also knew this so please make up your minds now if it was as magnificant as first thought.

On that match (friendly between Colombia and Germany I think) he was about 40 years old... but he did this move in an official match too I believe

Responding to the comment down WAAAAY below, how would the goalkeeper know that the offside whistle had blown so quickly? No this is all premeditated and although this was an amazing save, Rene H made the biggest blunder of all in the 1994 World Cup when he stupidly came out to challenge an opposing forward for the football and lost, the ball got past him and the opponents scored and eventually beat Columbia to advance.
Rene H is surely a colorful goalie but as far as vastly talented goes? I beg to differ!

American football is a very demanding short burst game, football is constant need of skill under pressure. Different skills are needed so stop the bitching about which is better.
Whoever said that football (i am english so take that as "soccer") is more of a man's game than american football obviously doesnt know the first thing about it. Plus that person should play some rugby. I get soooo annoyed when top class football "athletes" roll around on the floor in "severe pain" after a tackle playing the ref for a yellow/red card and then get up after it like nothing happened, and that was only from a slight glance in a tackle.
Try playing as a forward in rugby (no pads like the P***y americans) you go down with the ball and you have a minimum of 2 people pile on you, and during that you get kicked in the balls, studded on your legs and/or punched in the face - and that was all when i was playing when i was 18... then i got up and did it again, no complaining. "If the ref didnt see it, it didnt happen"

His name is José Rene Higuita. He did that block in a friendly game against England about 12 or more years ago in a VERY BORING MATCH that ended 0-0.The game was played at Wembley.
He's famous because of his stunts and his goals (actually he is the third striker goalkeeper of all time). Because of his stunts he's nicknamed "El LOCO HIGUITA" (Crazy Higuita) . By the way he's ALIVE and living well, has appeared in several reality shows in Colombia including "extreme makeover"

FINALLY SOMETHING GOOD ABOUT COLOMBIA...

Not only would he normally do stunts like this, but he would also have a tendency to play the ball by himself all the way over to the other team's side AND score... I saw him do it once in the 80s. What's funny about that, is that he would dribble around BOTH TEAMS, because his teammates ALSO tried to take the ball from him 'cause though Highita was great, it was his overconfidence that caused all the goals against. He was probably colombia's best free kicker at the time scoring several goals per season. I never heard from him again, but if I remember correctly he was killed in a drug mafia related scandal. Again, I was young at the time, it could have been some other player...

All right boys and girls listen up, I used to think the same thing when I was younger oo American Footballs for P***y 's Rugby is so much better. However I started playing American Football at my Highschool and It is so much more intense then Rugby. Sure Rugby has your scrums which is mostly just pushing back nd forth nd then occiasionally there is a big hit. American Football is 100% big hits you big hit all the time and you have to if you wanna play. So in my opnion as a rugby and football player American Football is 10x more big hits then Rugby.

This is from a game a number of years ago when the old offside rules applied i.e. you were offiside if you did not have at least two defenders (including the keeper) between you and the goal when a ball was kicked forward by a team mate (shot or pass).
Bearing these rules in mind, an England player was flagged offside once the ball was played goalward. Higuita saw the flag up, knew play was "dead" (refs didn't overrule linesmen back then) and so attempted the Scorpion kick.
It was a risk free piece of bravado (albeit athletic). If he missed it wasn't a goal anyway.

yeah all yall people talking crap on american football saying you don't have to be fit to play your wrong. You have to be extremely fit and fast. the linemen are atleast 300 pounds and the majority of them run 4.9 40's thats freaking good. Im a way bigger fan of futbol though and would choose that anyday of north american football but football does take fitness and skill in only a few select positions.
