I wonder how they make it do that. I listened to it about 4 times and it goes down further and further. I will have to play with it to see if I can make it start over again from the beginning. I wonder if there is a way to break it or actually figure it out.

i don't think it's an illusion..
the sound consists of tone pairs. the first tone in the first pair is lower than the second and in every other first tone is higher..
