Hey everybody,

This video is the result of a visit to see my buddy Justin up in Ontario, Canada, this past Christmas 2006. We decided on the spur of the moment that we should record a cover song on video. I didn't know any tunes he knew, so I decided to learn Black Label Society's "Stillborn" because I spend all my time on my own shit and hopefully will have an original CD to launch soon.

It was really cool because the song has Ozzy singing the lead vocals. It's funny how not "Ozzy" sounding this is to be 1/2 of the Ozzy line up...give or take an album or two.

We didn't have a drummer or a bassist, so we decided to use a drum machine. Justin had his trusty BOSS DR.5? and since I really "get off" on drum programming, I took it upon myself to make a drum and bass track.

I wish the rhythm section sounded clearer, but it was blasting (and wicked sounding live) through the PA.

Justin and I were both playing through the same PA, and apparently, the tone died a bit at the Video Camera Tone Bottleneck. I guess if we were really serious, we could have multi-tracked the sound and synced it up later, but "Come On!" it's only a cover to have some fun with my buddy.

He has a great voice and it suits the song well. It would be nice to share the stage with him in the future, but the basement will do for now. lol
Being 2,200 miles apart doesn't help either.

I should apologize for the FAKE LEAD...I didn't invest much time into memorizing it, as I would probably never play it again. I managed to get it close to the beginning and end parts of his, but the entire middle section is just a mindless-improvisation. I had no clue when the vocals would even come back in, so I'm playing out of the zone of my usual confidence. No excuse, but counting while you solo never looks or feels right...

Well that's enough explaining.

Take it easy,
AAron
