Yeah... I have seen many like that in my country. In the construction sites... they get Ks 1200 (1 USD = Ds 1350)... less than a dollar, for working the whole day. If they are new, they will get less than that.

This is a very common sight in India... daily wage earners... these are the people who come from the villages to the city in search for a better life... It's sad to see them being exploited here... some get daily wages of around Rs.10. That is around 20 cents. While the city people, like myself, we earn around Rs.600 per day, (which is considered very good)... and even that is just around $12.

He makes $2 per day so what. Try to live on that here. You can't. At least he can. And no apologies. The black dust I breathe in every day at work is certainly going to do me damage long term, along with the heavy physical labour.
Don't pity the guy, he's being a good provider for his family I'll bet, and doing it the closest, best way he knows how.
I have immense respect for people who know how to work. It is not right he probably does it for 12 hours per day, that he is cheaper than a dolly on which one guy couls carry 40-60 bricks, and that if he happens to fall ill, they'll simply get someone else and say 'bye-bye' to him, no matter how good he is at his job.
It's not what he does, but how he is treated that everyone should be commenting on.

Their are people who get paid many times what he gets, doing a fraction of a percentage of the work, simply by the time and place they were born into.

I'll commend this guy for his work but we also can't sum him as a person from doing lots of work for a certain level of pay. And there are a lot of people who would rather haul bricks (not that many) by the beach but they "make more" killing turkeys at night or at McDonald's.
