back in the old days, before video recor...
there was a man in britain called paul daniels who did similar conjuring tricks. then, one day, people started recording his shows and watching them in slow-motion and with freeze-frame. this really pssd him off, cos people found out how his 'tricks' worked. so, chinese guy, the cane which appeared from behind the burning handkerchief was passed to you through the curtains....

would work in a live show if you were far enough away.
