Room 2017 turns a hopeless failure into nerve-wrecking story. Watch more MiniMovies at: Rob Smits latest film 'Room 2017' tells the story of every director's nightmare. At the start of the film, we find him in a desperate state in a hotel room in Taipei. What happened? After his award-winning document Jungle Rudy, Smits returned to the jungle of Venezuela to shoot a film with the Yanomami Indians - a tribe not often visited by Westerners. But money talks, even in the jungle, and on the day of his departure all but one of Smits' tapes were confiscated. Drifting through Taipei, Smits asks himself the question: 'How to make a film with no footage?' Smits film is a highly inventive Minimovie, reminiscent of Wim Wenders' best work - a contemplation on identity in a world where escaping the rat race has become all but impossible.
