nickname on the ship was the "hoover" becasue it sounded like a vacuum and the location of the engines had a tendancy to pick up little bits of FOD and sometimes, people.

A sub-sonic ground-attack aircraft that, although small, can carry an amazing amount of explosive ordanance (Bombs). The A-6 has a crew ot two; the pilot, whom you saw in the video clip and a "Wizz-O" or weapons systems officer. (That would be the unseen guy with the camera in this clip.)

I used to work on A-6's when in the marines. I know one when I see one.
1. A-6's do not have wipers
2. A-6's intrument panel overhead dash is not flat. It is rounded.

This is not an A-6.

because it's an S-3.

We now know definitively it is NOT. So, what IS it? There really aren't that many planes that are capable of carrier landings. I work at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, I'll see if I can find someone who knows.
