Your market update for real estate in Whistler, BC. Hi Dave in Whistler, BC. Whistler Mountain is open, I am riding the red chair on the second day of skiing of the season! There seems to be a lot of tourists skiing on the mountain today and arriving in Whistler for American Thanksgiving weekend. Our real estate market is very closely linked to tourism in the Resort of Whistler. The forecast for Tourism in Whistler this year is for a 15% decrease in numbers according to Tourism Whistler. We will have to wait and see if this prediction holds true. With our Canadian Dollar trading at $.80US, our ski season started, the excitement of the 2010 Olympics, the opening of the PEAK2PEAK Gondola Dec 12th and the completion of the Sea 2 Sky Highway next year we are hopeful of a successful year. Are real estate prices going down in Whistler? In the next few months we will have sales data to report more accurately what prices are doing. Whistler is seeing listing prices of homes decrease as that sellers do have to get aggressive about pricing their properties to draw offers in what is now is being called a buyers' market.
