They're called ...
They're called flares and its not the missile defense system. Lock-on missiles follow heat so flares are deployed to protect the plane and destroy the missile. This is not the missile defense system. The real missile defense system shoots missiles at the enemy missile, usually big bombs, not rockets. What you saw were angle flares.
