    Well you've just heard a pitch for a type of business that can make you "your own boss", "bring you financial freedom", or even "become and independent distributer", chances are it was from someone you know because your on their "warm" list.

    This type of business is commonly referred to as multi-level marketing or MLM, although it may be called by other names, including network marketing, direct, or affiliate program. Why so many names? Because there are some schemes that get such a bad reputation, the "small businesses" change names to make them more attractive.     After listening to your "friends" speech about what they have to offer you, the feeling of empowerment and the idea of being more financially stable is blowing up your head like a balloon. There are many "MLM" programs out there that are under investigation or have several lawsuits against them from customers or even the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). This is because there are laws through out America that "pyramid schemes" are illegal. But not all of these multi level marketing opportunities fall under the same category.
