  • Yes, TKD history is 60years, But ...

Yes TKD history is 60years but techniques from TKD is very old. I think tkd techniques come from Hwa-rang, Wu-shu and Shotokan

    By MilaLefiS 1161575589
    • Shotokan

Shotokan is where the punch came from.....one hand into a fist at waist another fist extended forward....on the way back midway the switch. the hand with knuckles facing up then reverses. Visa versa for both hands every punch.

      By TKDfreak 1180574034
    • That's incorrect

The word Taekwondo derives from Tae Kyun which existed long before. And before Tae Kyun, there was Soobak which is also a very traditional Korean combative martial art thousands years ago. Wu-shu is Chinese and Shotokan's one of karate divisions which aren't original. Karate's modern and has taken forms and skills from taekwondo. One of the largest Karate division's founding master was a Korean man who created his own style of fighting system, which was modern and called Karate also. Many think any hard-style system as karate, but that's like calling any Asian man a Chinese.

      By deletor 1179485264
    • also incorrect.

both names are based on characters so it's not like tkd's name is from a previous generation. taekwondo is based on the letters tae, kwon, do while taekkyeon is taek and gyeon. Also, the founder of tkd, choi honghee learned shotokan in japan during the occupation and taekkyon before it was banned. So tkd consists of shotokan 80% and taekkyeon 20%

  • Cool demonstration but...

It was a good demonstartion of aerobics but i would rather see a fight

    By juan2k7 1157303410
    • haha

this is most ignorant of all. you can get killed by a single snap of those kicks. They may look like aerobic swings for your eyes, but those kind of kicks can easily break your neck in an eye blink. You'd pee on your pants if you were to stand before those guys.

      By deletor 1179486303
    • Ha ha ha they don't scare me

Ha ha Deletor. if you think I would get scare from seeing some dudes doing some acrobatic kicks. You would be wrong. Cuz as a matter of fact. I studied Tae kwon do. I only got to Yellow Belt though. But sometimes it doesn't matter what belt are you. you gotta try fighting the real world. a real life fight. Like Bruce Lee used to said: In a real world fight you wont have time to remember your katas or forms. sometimes you gotta fight by Instict. The only thing that might make me piss my pants is Guy trying to kill me with a Gun. I don't know that many people that got away from that do you?

      By juan2k7 1179499865
    • hahatheydontcareme reply....

ok...1st of all you cant say you studied TKD because you only got to yellow belt. It took me 1 month to get there. 2nd...dont try to refer to bruce lee because you have no idea what kind of training hes had 3rd and last......there are MILLIONS of people that got away with gun crimes. P.S

    • whatever Dude

whatever dude you win. but I still have to say something. I know that in the world there's people "Black Belts" that got their asses kicked by a group or a gang many times. you know i got a point right there.

    By diabo666 1157469940
    • Not true

It's like saying England has only 60 years of history. Before that name, there were many yet the whole history is stems in the same nation and people.

    • depends where you train.

our school will not allow anybody under 18 to recieve a first dan. our sa bum nim is a 4th dan. the school across the street from us is run by a school black belt, has more kids in it, and one of their students who looks like a pre-schooler has his black belt already. some schools are McDojos, others are real do jangs.

      By chrisx 1171337234
  • most of it is tae kwon do but not all

i guess that show was a showcase for korean martial arts and not just tae kwon do since the last to guys were taekkyon fighters (hope i spelled it right) i noticed from there uniforms check them out in youtube
