This easy-to-follow video tutorial walks you through steps of converting old VHS tapes to DVD. Roxio Easy VHS to DVD is a combination of software and hardware that allows you to easily and quickly digitize old analog recordings. You simply attach the included hardware to a free USB 2.0 port on your computer, then capture from virtually any analog video or audio source. S-Video and composite-video inputs enable full-resolution DVD recording from VCRs, VCR/DVD combo players, and analog camcorders including Hi8 and V8 models. You can also transfer your old vinyl LPs and cassette tapes onto CDs or convert the songs to MP3 files to play back on portable players and cell phones.

  • Have StashSpace Transfer VHS to DVD

You can do this with video conversion service StashSpace. You just send them your tapes and they convert them to digital for you. It costs $7 for the transfer and you can get DVDs right away or use their online video editor to watch, share, and edit your video to create custom DVDs. Check them out online or give them a call they did a great job with my home movie collection.

  • Transfering VCR tapes to DVD~S

I have the VCR-DVD recorder that you can record one from one to the other but the only thing is I am finding that I have a lot of VCR tapes that are write protected and it won`t let me do it. I am not very electronically adept so I am not sure what to do and there are a lot of the VCR tapes that I want to put on the DVD`S as Ihave over 300 VCR tapes and there are a lot of them I want to keep and get rid of the Vcr tapes as they take up too much room. I have a lot of big sets like all of Roots, Roots 2nd Generation and Queenie, all of The Marfia and the same with the wars from the Civil up. Please help me to get or do what I need to do to be able to transfer all the ones that I want to keep. My computer only has one draw for a CD only. Thank you

    • Here's what you can do...

Commercial VHS tapes will have a square indent on the back edge. (the side that faces toward you when you load it) On a home cassette, you will see a tab there. This is how the player knows whether or not it's copy protected. Cover that indent with tape, load it into your player, and all your problems should go away.
      Hope this helps!
