This is the most moving and truthful video I have seen. It speaks TRUTH about all these noble beasts, all they have done to help America be where it is today. And they continue to give, to the disabled, the troubled youth, the lonely and many others. They are our gift, it is up to us to honor them and be their voice to those who do not understand. How could anyone watch this and not know what the right thing to do is??? This is terribly hard to watch as the producer sets up our very special relationship and dependence on horses before showing them being thrown away at foreign slaughterhouses for foreigners to eat. Hopefully this Congress will speedily put an end to the cruelty! Thanks John.

This Video breaks my heart - it tells the story so well, you have to wonder how anyone could view it not see the importance of the horse to our history and also not see the love between humans and their horses. How can we send these beautiful creatures to slaughter?

Omg horses are so smart!! you dont see cows pigs sheep etc carrying people into war or doing tricks on commad and horse go out of their way to help us people i think that you nastika have no respect so i think that you should go to a slaughter house and see them get slaughtered i no that horses are beuatiful animals and they should be treated right!! ok so sometimes they do go bad but so do people you dont see people being taken to a slaughter house after they do something wrong no do you!! have some respect for those who have continously tryed to do things for us humans!!!!

horses have lived and died for us as our companions, best friends and family since we first tamed them back in caveman times. Yet we show them our respect and gratification for them and thier ancestors by sending them to the slaughter house for a peice of meat. For what they have layed everything they have on a platter for us wether they be american, scottish, english, australian or any other damn country and they deserve to live in luxury and die of old age. Yes there is the bad tempered ones as there is of any other species including human but we still dont whip, shoot, torture or send them to the slaughter house now do we. I praise the makers of the movie and there should be alot more people out there doing something to give these beuatiful, loving and graceful animals a voice. Let our children and childrens children etc. enjoy thier company as we did and leave these animals out of that scene besides as another post said its ony meat for the rich and i think they already have a broad enough menu.

Wow, I am amazed at all the great comments and wonderful support for this video. I must, however, say that the song was written and performed by Mark Miles (Bubba Blues). His words were so inspiring that it made putting the video around them relatively easy. This will be our year to end horse slaughter!

I am so saddened that the United States could ever let this horrific act exist in this country. All people should be forced to view this so they can see what is continuing to happen for our beloved equines. This must stop, as certain as we as Americans fight for justice on all other topics, countries etc., we must abolish the slaughter houses in our country as should they not exist in any instance. The bond that is possible with your horse is something that some cannot understand, it humbles you, makes you stronger person, teaches patience as well as friendship. Thanks for raising awareness to the brutality of horse slaughter. This is a very powerful video and you've done a wonderful job of showing the general public just what can happen if action isn't taken immediately. It was hard to watch but I'm glad I did. Thank you.

Someone wants to put their point of view for this video, and you won't allow it. And you know that I'm right, or else you would have just left my comments on there if you had refuted me. But not only did you fail to argue against me, but I destroyed your supporters points so much that you had to take theirs off. Now I hope that we slaughter more horses than ever, and that they are served to you, and you have to eat it.

I would like every single person in the world who thinks this practice is legit take a blow between the eyes with a bic pen, be knocked to the ground and hoisted by an ankle (left, right, doesn't matter, just so that it's done violently enough that that said ankle is broken) and hung in a cold stinking building for about three minutes.
That would make me happy. Just a little lesson in empathy.

Thank you for this truthful account of our American Icon! These creatures are not a commodity, they are creatures who grace our lives every day and have done so in so many different aspects of life for ages. The Harley Davidson is called the Iron Horse, so many products bear the name horsepower. This doesn't just happen to those who have not graced our country with their presence. We need to protect them, we need to do what is right and stop the slaughters of this magnificent creature who has done no wrong in life, except trust the wrong humans. It is hubris to think that humans will remain at the top of the food chain in the evolution of species. Just as we should recognize this in horses, I sincerely hope that whatever pushes us to second place recognizes that we are sentient creatures and doesn't herd us up and send us to slaughter.

What are we doing as a specie? We find a way to destroy anything that is beautiful for what some people think is good; Shark fins for soup, Bear paws & organs for sexual aids, anything exotic is good for sexual aids. Its just plane stupid. I hope that the children we raise can do a better job with the few beautiful things left in this world because we sure have done a poor job. I know that if my grandmother or grandfather walked with a limp or couldn't chew so well they wouln't end up in a place like this so why must these beautiful , elegant creatures?

Why should American horses be killed for wealthy foreigners to eat?? These horses are not being killed to feed 3rd world starving children. They are being killed for foreigners by foreigners. Let's keep America's Horses alive in America.

I just learned thru Barbaro that American horses are being slaughtered and their meat is being shipped overseas for human consumption. I couldn't believe it. I said"When did that happen ?"and" Why didn't I know ?" Many more know now and we are going to let all of America know! It will stop !

Even after a year and watching this video millions of times I still cry. This video is so touching and moving! We have got to get S1915 passed and remind people how important it is to get the American horse Slaughter Prevention Act passed and how important it is to call and write your Senators and urge them to pass this bill!

Horses are great creatures and do not deserve the poor treatment being given to them. We need responsible breeding, more publicity to get non-horse people aware and better protection for the wild horses. This is the reason that my horses will be with me until one of us is in the ground!

Betrayal of the Noble Steed by the less then noble

Watching this video made it impossible for me to maintain dry eyes! I have loved and I've been owned and loved by a few horses in my life! It was one of the "greatest" rides of my life!

I will never understand our betrayal of the Noble Steed, forsaken these wondrous creatures, forgetting its unflinching service to us. There are no excuses that can condone the torture, mistreatment and total disregard for their loyal service! Someone in power "Please" step in before it's too late! Insensitive humans will one day reap what they have sown!!!

I am steward to eleven beautiful equine souls. Each and every one of them are at risk as long as commercial equine slaughter exists. I will do everything within my capability to see this holocaust for equines ended. It's truly a disgrace and an Amercian tragedy *deep sigh* We WILL prevail and put an end to this barbaric industry!

I've been a part of this fight for about 4 years now, and have seen this video numerous times. It still packs a powerful punch.

As many of you know, this atrocity is still happening because our Senate never took up the bill which pased the House Of Representatives with 263 votes. Hopefully our new Congressional leaders will see fit to see this bill through both chambers of Congress.

Horses in the USA are not bred and raised for meat. They are bred and raised to be our friends, companions, and working partners. They are her to give use love, friendship, entertainment, and hard work. We do not eat horsemeat in the USA, so why do we slaughter them so rich foreigners can have a fancy meal? It makes no sense to me. Horse meat eaters don't want old, sick, thin horses; they want young, fat healthy horses! 90% of horses slaughtered fit this description... Wake up Armerica!
