Atlantis the Palm, Dubai: Birth of an Icon

It`s an investment. You draw the rich with low taxes and they come and spent there money in your country. When all the oil is gone, there will still be sun, sand and water and people who want to live far away from poor people and governments they have to pay taxes too. They also like to live in splendour, and you have to admit, it`s pretty. It`s an economically sound move to build it.
As for safety, Dutch engineers are heavily involved in laying the foundations for this project. They have thousands of cities below water level and yes, they would be very suprised if a hurricane flooded them all.
The two worst things that are likely to hit Dubai are sandstorms that raise the ground level, and a shortage of caviar.

Technology is advancing we're noticing how our plannet can no longer take us, we're taking action, way more slowly than the speed of destruction but we must take in mind we are. another point is that, this will be pointless eventually itll flood down to the floor, not now, not then, but later it will, its just buildings over a bounch of sand????

the good engineers work at dubai, they are earning big money. Those who missed home won't have chance to go there. Their goverment throwing alot of money on this big project, they hire any good engineer with good pay.

This is where your money goes every time you buy a tank full of gasoline. Those of you that drive an SUV have a larger share in this adventure.

UAE will become coward race..they will not able to confront with Israel / foe.. if there is a war and burj dubai and this artificial island is bombing.. they will instantly declare defeat.. they don't hav motivation anymore to fight because that building is their pride.. just like japan admit defeat after nagasaki and hiroshima is bombing with nuclear, that trillion dollar project is a liability after all

When the oil money is gone, what will keep these structures afloat?
Sure, engineers come from all over the world, and are welcomed. Debai has to hire somone to create this fantasy world. As long as Dubai is throwing money away at this rate, it will need everyone it can get it's wallet on. It has nothing to do with sharing jobs with all.
Wasting the oil revenues on a project that will have little use later when the oil isn't flowing at the rate it is now doesn't show arrogance and gluteny, but rather short sightedness.
I suppose it is just another monument - like the pyramids, because the Dubai economy will surely be buried beneath it as the worlds energy suppies dwindle and shift to alternative fuels.

This just proves with UNITY we can build our future. This was one of the biggest projects in the world were engineers from every race,greed and cuture were used.I think we do have a bright future ahead if we can just learn and practice one command.Though shalt not covert thy neighbor. Basically we should be grateful for what we have and we will all be ok.

the reasons of this wonderful construction and other things in Dubai is that this contry opened the door for every thing that can make her beautyful and the best place for business and money it is a good gov., and good people

As a society, we still are in diapers, with lots to learn. Over 80% of the Middle East and Arabia live in misery. I have to start by saying the feats of architecture is no less than amazing how ever, was it not the Arab culture that was attacking the western culture for being to rich and arrogant to commercialized and glutenous with are money.
