- Its called a safety line.
  In a situation where you may roll the vehicle over some people will choose to attach and cable or yank strap to the vehicle to prevent the roll over. Secondly, ites easier to attach the cable before you need it than when the vehicle is in a worse stuck situation. If I where in his shoes I'd would have used a safety line to insure that I can drive out rather than risk unnecessary breakage.
