This song invokes memories of the performances I gave as a young boy, and later as a young man playing my Steirische Harmonika at the Pabst Brewing Company's beer pub, the Sternewirt, a place that we Germans all referred to as Die Alte Sternewirt. In those days many a Pabst executive would drop in at the end of brewery tours and join the public crowd for the bottomless glasses of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer, unpasteurized and so fresh and crisp that one could only surmise that it was a foretaste of the great feast that we might enjoy in Heaven. There was singing in both German and English and a true spirit of that famous Pabst gemütlichkeit prevailed. This song was originally performed at the Sternewirt for Pabst executives and employees. There are only a few places left like the old Sternewirt in the world, sadly most are in South Germany and Lower Austria. It was truly a special place.
